How coaching works

Coaching works forward. It starts with where you are, gets honest about where you want to go, and turns the distance between the two into steps you can actually take.

Coaching, and what it isn't

All four of these are valuable. They just do different jobs.

Coaching

Forward-focused and led by you. You set the goal; I help you see clearly, decide, and act. We work towards permanent change and complete integration.

Therapy

Explores the past and supports emotional healing, led by a licensed clinician. If what you need is healing or clinical care, that's a therapist's work, and I'll tell you so. The two can work well side by side.

Mentorship

Someone further along shares what worked for them. It's generous and useful, but it's their path. Coaching helps you find yours.

Consulting

An expert solves the problem for you. Coaching builds your ability to solve it yourself, this time and the next.

What it looks like in practice

Two women shaking hands in an office setting, with one woman smiling and wearing glasses, and the other with dark hair.
An esthetician wanted to open her own spa. Week after week, the assignments only half got done. When we looked closer, the obstacle wasn't the plan. It was a lack of support close to home. Once it was named, we could work with it. She opened her day spa, and it ran successfully for years.

She came to start a business.

A window display with a sign that says 'We’re Open' and various plants inside, framed by window panes and seen through glass.
A consultant, unhappy in her role, hired me to rewrite her resume. I told her up front that I'm not a resume writer and can't promise anyone a job. What we worked on instead was clarity: what she wanted, separate from her family's picture of success. She landed a new role before our first engagement ended, and later came back to work with me again.

She came for a new resume.

A free discovery call.

Up to an hour to get to know each other and talk through what you're facing. You'll leave with one or two concrete next steps, whether or not we work together.

1

Eight weekly sessions

Forty-five minutes each, over about two months, with small, specific steps to carry the work forward in between.

2

An engagement built around you.

We shape the work to fit how you operate. Some clients want a clear structure; others need more room to think out loud. Most need a bit of both.

3

Keep going if you choose

Eight sessions is a starting point. Most clients extend or come back for another round.

4

Big outcomes, built in small pieces

Lasting change rarely comes from one big leap. It comes from small, specific steps that build on each other until the bigger outcome feels manageable, and then inevitable. My job is to make those steps fit you, so you always know what comes next and can see your progress adding up.

"The information, insights, and small assignments Ana discussed with me every week have really opened my mind and created meaningful progress."
